Cigarette Smoking increases the risk of “Psoriasis Disease”

Studies show that those who consider themselves as chain smokers are endangered of developing psoriasis disease as additional harmful effect of smoking.
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that can be developed in the skin. It is usually red, scaly patches on the skin surface and it is itchy.
The prime part of our body to be affected by the psoriasis disease is our immune system. Immune system helps our body to treat the skin cells as pathogen that sends out an alarm to speed up the growth of the cells on our damage skin.
Experts believed that frequent smoking can harm our immune system and make us more expose to open target of psoriasis.
In addition to that, there are several researchers studying at a specific area, proving that smoking can destroy the immune system of the body and contribute to develop psoriasis disease.
The risk is high to all chain smokers. Smokers are at risk of developing psoriasis twice compare to those who did not smoke.
Previous studies proven that smokers have 39% chance of developing this chronic disease. And according to the record of National Psoriasis Foundation, there are about 7.5-million Americans suffering from psoriasis disease.
Dr. Abrar A. Qureshi, of Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston supported the claims of present researchers that smoking and psoriasis share the same link.
They found out that people with psoriasis also develop heart disease and which is also one of the factors to the people who have developed heart disease due to smoking.
It’s not late, try to quit smoking for better health and longer life.
